Sheriff's Mounted Patrol

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol was organized on April 25th, 1969. It started with 16 charter members, under the leadership of Sheriff Marlo Specht.

The Mission of the Patrol is to assist the Sheriff in the preservation of peace and the protection of life and property of the citizens of Jo Daviess County.

Members volunteer their time, their horse and equipment, and transportation to calls that need our assistance. The Mounted Patrol provided many service hours assisting the Sheriff's Office with security details and traffic control.

The patrol also has a “Cadet” program for young adults, (18 - 21 years old), interested in law enforcement.

We currently have 11 active members and are looking forward to having more in the near future.
