Jo Daviess County Health Department in partnership with Sinnissippi Centers has NARCAN and Fentanyl Test Strips available free and confidential to county residents. They are available for pickup Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm in the lower level / rear parking lot of the health department. 

What is NARCAN?
NARCAN® (naloxone HCl) Nasal Spray is an opioid antagonist indicated for the emergency treatment of known or suspected opioid overdose, as manifested by respiratory and/or central nervous system depression. NARCAN® Nasal Spray is intended for immediate administration as emergency therapy in settings where opioids may be present. NARCAN® Nasal Spray is not a substitute for emergency medical care.

What are Fentanyl test strips?
Fentanyl test strips (FTS) are a form of drug testing technology which have shown to be effective at detecting the presence of fentanyl in drug samples prior to use. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that is used medically to treat severe pain, and illicitly manufactured fentanyl is driving an increase in drug overdose deaths.
